Real Life Reform - the results are in!

Real Life Reform is a project aimed at increasing awareness of the suffering caused by the Government’s Welfare Reforms

The hope is that if the government and policy-makers learn the impact that the Welfare Reform has on tenants they will prevent future changes to the welfare system and perhaps revert some of the changes that have already been made.

Unity is limited as to what we are able to do on our own given our size, which is why we have partnered with a number of other Northern housing associations to help you get your voice heard.

The Real Life Reform project not only examines the immediate effects of Welfare Reform on the household, but also the effects on your household’s health and wellbeing, your neighbourhood and the community and your household’s employment and educational opportunities.

Evidence is gathered through a number of one-to-one interviews with tenants in which the impact of Welfare Reform on the household is assessed. 74 tenants have been interviewed to date, 4 of which are Unity households. The researchers have agreed on a target of 100 participants, meaning that there is scope for more Unity tenants to get involved.

If you want to get involved and share your views about the Government’s Welfare Reforms and how it is affecting you and your family, there is still time! Call Lewis on 0113 200 7751 or click here to email.
