Hands up for Harding Villas!

Five years ago, the back-to-back terraced houses on Brown Lane East were knocked down. Now, standing in their space are the brand new Harding Villas, named so by the children of the local Ingram Road, Primary School.

Unity Housing and their contractors, Keepmoat, presented their first public viewing in the new show house. Ward Councillors Angela Gabriel and Adam Ogilvie and local community members Dennis Kitchen, Ian Pickup were joined by Year 3 children from the primary school for a peek inside.

Visitors were greeted by bright and welcoming rooms, a newly-fitted kitchen and fully functional central-heating. The children were given exercises to complete as they investigated what the homes had to offer the tenants moving in, in January.

Regeneration Director, Wayne Noteman, said that ‘This is a significant day for the Children from Ingram Road, as they have been involved with the development from the start. They’ve seen the land being prepared, helped name the flats and now they are invited to see what the houses look like inside, completing the building cycle.’

Unity Housing Association will also be hosting a ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ event for all the new residents on the Brown Lane East development at Holbeck Working Men’s Club on Saturday 10th January 2015.
